Step 1: Income

Enter the monthly gross income for both parents across all applicable income sources. Income amounts should be monthly averages.

Monthly Gross Income Sources Gross Income

Primary employment income including wages, salary, and regular pay. Use your average monthly gross pay before any deductions.

Variable income including bonuses, commissions, allowances, overtime, and tips. Use a 12-month average to determine the monthly amount.

Net self-employment, partnership, or close corporation income. Calculate as gross receipts minus ordinary and necessary business expenses.

Monthly disability benefits received, including SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance) and private disability insurance payments.

Ongoing workers' compensation benefit payments and settlement installments received due to a work-related injury or illness.

Passive income from royalties, trust distributions, or estate income.

Reimbursed expenses or in-kind payments to the extent they reduce your normal living expenses. For example, employer-provided housing or car.

Recurring capital gains from property dealings. Nonrecurring or one-time capital gains may be excluded — consult an attorney.

Social Security benefits paid to your child due to your retirement or disability. This amount is added to your gross income. It's the benefit your child receives because of YOUR work record.

Income Imputation §61.30(2)(b)

If a parent is voluntarily unemployed or underemployed, the court may impute income based on the median income of year-round full-time workers (Census data), or based on recent work history, education, and prevailing wages in the community. Incarceration alone cannot be treated as voluntary unemployment §61.30(2)(b).
