Step 1: Income

Primary employment income including wages, salary, and regular pay. Use your average monthly gross pay before any deductions.

Variable income including bonuses, commissions, allowances, overtime, and tips. Use a 12-month average to determine the monthly amount.

Net self-employment, partnership, or close corporation income. Calculate as gross receipts minus ordinary and necessary business expenses.

Monthly disability benefits received, including SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance) and private disability insurance payments.

Ongoing workers' compensation benefit payments and settlement installments received due to a work-related injury or illness.

State unemployment or reemployment assistance benefits currently being received.

Monthly distributions from pension plans, 401(k), IRA, or other retirement accounts. Include annuity payments.

Social Security retirement or disability benefits (SSDI). Do NOT include SSI (Supplemental Security Income) — that is excluded from gross income.

Alimony or spousal support received from a prior marriage or the current case.

Monthly interest income and dividend payments from investments, savings accounts, bonds, or stock holdings.

Net rental property income. Calculate as gross rental receipts minus ordinary and necessary expenses (mortgage interest, taxes, insurance, maintenance).

Passive income from royalties, trust distributions, or estate income.

Reimbursed expenses or in-kind payments to the extent they reduce your normal living expenses. For example, employer-provided housing or car.

Recurring capital gains from property dealings. Nonrecurring or one-time capital gains may be excluded — consult an attorney.

Social Security benefits paid to your child due to your retirement or disability. This amount is added to your gross income. It's the benefit your child receives because of YOUR work record.
